2000
a start in public safety
The founder and president of Petauro Systems, Drew Jurkofsky, started as a police officer in Fort Collins, Colorado. After two years on patrol, he joined his agency's traffic crash investigation team and began training as a collision reconstructionist. Drew was accredited as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist in 2003 and continued working as a lead investigator.

2014
a disruptive technology
At the beginning of the year, Unmanned Experts was awarded a Cooperative Research Agreement with the National Institute of Justice to investigate the utility of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) for traffic accident clearance. Drew was hired onto the team to consult as a subject matter expert.

2015
first recognition
By this time public safety agencies were starting to take notice of UAS. Drew authored a technical paper, "Accuracy of SUAS Photogrammetry for Use in Accident Scene Diagramming," that was published by the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was invited to present the findings of the NIJ study at national and regional conferences across the United States. Drew was also appointed to serve on the International Association of Chiefs of Police Aviation Committee.

2016
public safety taking flight
By the following year, Drew was working with local police, fire and search and rescue agencies to create regional public safety UAS teams. He had experience writing public safety Certificates of Authorization (COAs) and taught his first public safety UAS training course to a group of law enforcement officers and firefighters.

2017
Petauro Systems - Your Team Taking Flight™
Drew decided to step down as Chief Knowledge Officer at Unmanned Experts to start Petauro Systems - A company dedicated to the training and mentorship of public safety agencies in the use of UAS technology. Our journey has only brought us higher and, along with other public safety colleagues, we go on towards the future intending to help police, fire and search and rescue teams exploit the full potential of UAS technologies.
