Petauro Systems® COA Assistance
Many public safety agencies need to have the ability to operate unmanned aircraft near airports and within controlled airspace. To accomplish this, public safety agencies may apply for a Certificate of Waiver or Authorization (COA) under either Part 107, as a Civil Aircraft Operation, or in support of a governmental function as a Public Aircraft Operation.
A COA is an authorization issued by the Air Traffic Organization to a public operator for a specific unmanned aircraft activity. After a complete application is submitted, the FAA conducts a comprehensive operational and technical review. If necessary, provisions or limitations may be imposed as part of the approval to ensure the unmanned aircraft can operate safely with other airspace users.
We believe there is great value in agencies understanding the COA process and applying for their own waivers. To help further the useful application of UAS technology, Petauro Systems helps first responders navigate the process and provides general wording, tips and advice at no cost.
The COA application process does take time and can be complicated depending on the size of area covered by the waiver and complexity of the airspace. Some agencies decide to have a professional write their COA for them as it is more efficient and cost effective than spending the time and/or money to complete the process internally. Petauro Systems offers a flat fee to complete the blanket and jurisdictional COA processes for your team.
