How the Program Works

The Train-the-Trainer Program is based on a licensing system for instructors and students.  When an agency buys into the program, it receives one (1) trainer license along with one (1) seat in an upcoming Public Safety Remote Pilot course.  Upon successful completion of the training course, the agency trainer is allowed to teach the curriculum to other employees of the licensing agency.  Additional instructor licenses, which include a free training seat, may be purchased at any time.

A purchase of the Train-the-Trainer Program includes five (5) student licenses.  An agency instructor may teach the Public Safety Remote Pilot course to any agency employee with an assigned student license.  Student licenses are issued to individuals and are tracked by Petauro Systems, along with exam and flight qualification records, for certification purposes.  Additional student licenses may be purchased at any time.

The Train-the-Trainer curriculum is copyrighted and owned by Petauro Systems.  The curriculum and other training materials are continuously updated to keep pace with evolving standards and FAA requirements.  Agency instructors can access the newest version of the curriculum at any time through the instructor portal on the Petauro Systems website.

Who Should Attend

Any first responder, sworn or civilian, who plans to instruct and teach new pilots how to fly UAS on behalf of their agency for law enforcement, firefighting or search and rescue applications.  Students are REQUIRED to have a current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate.
